Giants WR Victor Cruz will undergo season-ending calf surgery
NY Giants receiver Victor Cruz was trying to come back from a torn patellar tendon in his right knee, an injury that cost him 10 games in 2014. Cruz added “There are certain things that happen to your body that you just can’t explain”. Victor Cruz knows that he will have to work hard to get healthy again, and he realizes the importance of it. He said, “I know that I have to retool my brain and my body to get back to 100 percent and come back the other end firing”. He had been targeting a lat-season return before a checkup on his calf revealed the need for surgery.
“I’m thoroughly convinced at a few point this year I’ll be on that field, playing at a high level and making plays to help my team win”. I felt like I was back to 100 percent and the calf stuff happened.
In Cruz’s place, Dwayne Harris has emerged as the Giants’ primary slot receiver and performed well.
The Giants were so optimistic that Cruz was close to returning that they kept him on their 53-man roster, before he announced via an online video that he would undergo surgery. The two wide receivers played together a total of six quarters last season before Cruz was injured. “Because I haven’t lost faith in myself”. So, see you guys next year. It’s tough, a tough thing to go through physically, emotionally. He has three years and roughly $24 million left on his contract with the Giants, and next season he would be a $9.9 million cap hit. Cruz’s contract nearly definitely will be re-worked. He’s due to make $7.9 million base salary next year.
