Gilmore Girls creators ‘in talks’ to make more episodes
Reps for Netflix and “Gilmore Girls” producer Warner Bros.
Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has long hinted that if Netflix’s mini-series A Year in the Life received a warm enough welcome, the Gilmore Girls would inevitably be back for more.
“Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” is in early talks for another season at Netflix. Viewers took to social media in droves afterward to demand that the story be continued. According to Ted Sarandos, the chief content officer at #Netflix, talks for #GilmoreGirlsAYearInTheLife The Sequel are in “very preliminary” stages.
Sex and the City is perhaps the most obvious example of a show which was loved by many but saw fans switch off in later years. Even if they said what they needed to say with their last episode, they might not reject the idea to bring the series back again.
Now, speaking at a Netflix UK press conference, Sarandos said: “We hope [there are more instalments]”. Bledel is set to appear in Fox’s Linda From HR, a pilot set to air this year as well as Hulu’s highly anticipated adaptation of The Handmaid’s Tale.
Matt Czuchry, who plays Logan on the show, told E! that if there is more, “It’ll be another great ride”.
After the revival, titled “A Year in the Life“, premiered in November, Sherman-Palladino spoke to TVLine about the possibility of another season, and said, “I don’t rule anything in my life out”.
In other words, don’t start planning your Stars Hollow-themed birthday party until Milo Ventimiglia tweets something. Though to be fair, since Netflix doesn’t release its viewership numbers on a regular basis, we have nothing to compare these viewership totals to.
