‘Gilmore Girls’ revival enjoyable but somewhat irritating

A takeaway from her relationship with Logan is you may love someone, but that doesn’t mean you should be together. In fact, the ending basically sets us up for it. Jess visits Luke, and when he leaves, he stares at Rory from the window.

One familiar face is already down for more episodes. In many ways, her presence was a good thing – without her, Richard and Emily would be forever warring with bratty Lorelai. After all, Christopher also tried to rebel against his silver spoon, but eventually ended up eating from it after life smacked him around a bit. Three episodes later, Lorelai calls her mother and tells her what she should have said. She needed to focus on her [self] and start her career.

A sequel of “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life”? Too bad for the faceless Odette or the forgettable Paul, who gets strung along for a year by someone too self-involved to even send a break-up text. These two sure have a attractive system of give-and-take. “And it really did make so much sense to me, psychologically, and I could see how [seeing Tristan] would be a very big trigger for Paris”. Luke and Lorelai still remain together while Kirk still manages to pin hope on his schemes. Remember, this revival was only possible because of Netflix’s involvement and they clearly had enough faith in the show to revive it – it secured them a lot more subscribers. So if she had been part of the seventh season, that means Rory would have announced her pregnancy while still a college student at Yale. Lorelai even helps Rory with the title and tells her to get rid of the “The” and simply named the book Gilmore Girls.

Scenes that should have lasted about a minute (looking at you “Stars Hollow Musical”) go on so long that it is nearly painful. Rory was a paragon of excellence in most regards of her life – that’s what we’ve come to know her as. Excluding an unexpected sexual dalliance with a “Star Wars” creature, Rory presumably has only sex with one man over the course of the year: Logan Huntzberger. It was late at the night of Lorelai’s pre-wedding with Luke Danes. Emily and Lorelai, specifically, have some pretty serious issues to work through, and without Richard to back Emily up or be somewhat of a voice of reason between the two, the women seem to be at a loss when it comes to getting along.
