Gimme Him: One player Giants would steal from the Packers
Those two losses are unforgettable and largely unforgivable in Wisconsin. Eli Manning hasn’t been the same this year but its playoff time.
Can the Giants summon enough offense to defeat the Packers on Sunday in their NFC wild-card game? “The New York Giants and Green Bay Packers are huge draws”.
Packers’ issues against Giants in October 9 win will factor into rematch – ESPN I’ll say it once: the week 5 game is worth examining and remembering when it comes to Sunday’s result. No reason one of these teams can represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. In both 2007 and 2011, the Packers had beaten the Giants during the regular season – in NY, no less – before losing in the playoffs.
All that is ancient history now. “I don’t even know how many (current) players are on each one of those teams”.
But given how well Rodgers has been playing, most analysts probably believe it won’t matter if they can run the ball. And for all of this talk about how Giants’ coach Ben McAdoo knows Aaron Rodgers as good as anybody, doesn’t that hold true the other way around too?
Now, this is a very different Giants team. Damarious Randall, Quinten Rollins, and rookie Makinton Dorleant all suffered injuries in the regular season finale versus the Detroit Lions. We’ve just got to put together a game where we’re more consistent from the first snap to the last.
The Giants and Packers along with the Detroit Lions are the three potential opponents the Cowboys will play.
The Giants on the other side are one of the worst rushing teams in all of the league. He is 2-0 in his last two playoff games in Lambeau field (beating Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers) and is 7-0 when is an underdog, which he is this weekend.
“You have adjustments you may make in run game at the line of scrimmage, adjustments you may make in protection, and also with the routes”, McCarthy said.
They finished with the third-best record in the NFC and the conference’s top wild-card spot.
Believe it or not, Manning actually has a better playoff record at Lambeau Field than Aaron Rodgers.
Giants quarterback Eli Manning, who turned 36 on Tuesday, even joked about it, saying of the photos of the Miami boat excursion: “I think as a team we kind of always pride ourselves on being well prepared, so when I saw some of the pictures I was a little disappointed, just because obviously they didn’t pack accordingly”. The Packers quarterback has played a total of four home playoff games in his career and has gone just 2-2 in those games.
To add to Rodgers’ uniqueness, he can also make plays with his legs.
It was one of the more remarkable mid-season transformations that wasn’t fueled by roster changes. The forecasted high temperature for Sunday is a blustery 15 degrees, so Manning will have to do it in the cold yet again. I disagree. The Giants have been blitzing more and more as the season has progressed, and I don’t expect them to stop now.
The NFC South champs haven’t played NY this season, but they picked up a regular-season victory over Green Bay. In situations where they were underdogs by 3.5 or more points, these teams went a mere 1-4 ATS.
If there was a common denominator in the two Packers losses, it was the Giants winning the turnover battle.
As far as my predictions go, I told everybody back before the game against Seattle that I’m done predicting against the Packers after that game, and I’m sticking with that.
