Gionee India chief executive officer and managing director Arvind Vohra exuded confidence that by December-end, all the Gionee handsets would be domestically manufactured.
He told us how we would be in a better position to manufacture in the next 4 – 5 years. “See the money is directly linked to returns, if we see high returns why would we not invest more?” “It’s just a matter of time”, he explained. He explained that AP had several strategic advantages like location, policies, business environment and skill base, which makes it one of the most favourable States for “Make in India” vision.
“We would be working towards making India a manufacturing hub for not just local consumption but also for nearby countries. If you really want the mobile technology to grow here then one should develop in India”.
