Giphy Launches iOS GIF Maker
GIPHY CAM is now only available on iOS for free.
On Thursday, gif search engine Giphy released a new app that lets users create their own shareable gifs. “The next natural step was focusing on creation”.
Making GIFs just got easier. “Now that people can find great GIFs, we want them to be able to create their own moments and share those, too”. Giphy Cam will do all the work. They’d be included in keyboard apps and certainly had been used by mobile users before in web browsers, but with the Giphy Cam, the Giphy crew grow up.
It should be noted that when you save these to your phone’s camera roll, they will appear as static images (come on, Apple – time to support GIFs), but once you send them elsewhere, the images will reveal their true animation. Apparently this was a deliberate move on Giphy’s behalf.
Yes, we know, you want to use this app right now. Users can also apply different filters and memes such as the “Deal With It” filter.
Wacky creation tools that export seamlessly to messaging apps and social networks have been quite the rage lately. And it’s free, so you can save your money for bathing in, Scrooge McDuck-style.
