The couple told police the other nine girls in the house were their children, Krimmel said.
On Thursday, investigators found 12 girls at Kaplan’s home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, ranging between 6 months and 18 years of age.
An eastern Pennsylvania man is facing child sex assault charges after police say they found 12 girls living in his home.
The girl, now 18, has two children – a three-year-old and a six-month-old – with Kaplan, the affidavit said.
Lee Kaplan, 51, has been charged with sexual assault and other crimes.
A 51-year-old man was found living with 12 girls, including two he fathered, after sexually assaulting a teenager he considered his wife, United States authorities said.
Daniel Stoltzfus stated that he knew that his daughter birthed two children with Kaplan, and was 14-years-old when she conceived.
All three were arrested Thursday and sent to Bucks County prison in lieu of 10 percent of $1 million bail.
The police complaint said Kaplan “had told other neighbors that no children live there”. She tells us a neighbor saw the man bring home a baby girl around six months ago. Child welfare workers took custody of the girls after Kaplan’s arrest, he noted. The friend is charged with sexually assaulting the teen, who had two children with him. Authorities told KYW-TV the children found in the home appear to be Amish, and none are enrolled in area schools.
Police are continuing to conduct interviews with the children, but are having to get help from the Amish community in Lancaster because the children have been sheltered, according to authorities. Betz tells Action News she feels like a weight has been lifted, and hopes the girls receive the therapy they need.
“I just wasn’t gonna let go”. She also claimed that she saw one of the girls pregnant. The parents, who live in Lancaster County and are believed to be Amish, are in custody.
“It’s right here, literally in my backyard”, she said of Kaplan’s house. It’s calm, it’s peaceful, it’s quiet.
Lower Southampton District Judge John Waltman set their bail at $1 million during their arraignments on Friday.
