Giroud satisfied with France contribution

The visitors broke the deadlock after just four minutes when Giroud latched onto a fine pass from Anthony Martial, before firing a low effort past Kasper Schmeichel.

The Manchester United starlet was lively throughout and created the opening goal for Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud in the fourth minute.

France do not need to worry about qualifying for next summer’s European Championships as the host nation of the tournament and are therefore able to use the global breaks to experiment with the squad.

Giroud recently admitted that he needed to toughen up and work his way back in the Gunners side, after he was dropped for Theo Walcott.

“It’s always good to score goals when you’re a striker, it’s good for confidence”, Giroud said.

Martial was eventually substituted in the 88th minute after putting in a MOTM performance to help France to a 2-1 win in Copenhagen.

For Giroud, the goals were his first for the national team since netting against the same opposition in March.

With only six minutes on the clock, France led 2-0.

Schmeichel then came to Denmark’s rescue in the 62nd minute, when Martial showed great pace to lose his marker, before forcing the Danish shot-stopper into a save at the near post. “We could not take our chances to kill off the match with a third goal in the second half, but we maintained the momentum”. I’ve made fewer changes over the last couple of months.
