Giuliani says Trump could soon decide on Mueller interview
“He can not be believed”, Rudy Giuliani, a lawyer for Trump, said referring to Cohen. Second, Trump could have known about the meeting and Trump Jr. may not have been the source of that information.
Alan Futerfas, a lawyer for the Trump Organization and Donald Trump Jr., told Reuters, “Donald Trump Jr. has been professional and responsible throughout the Mueller and Congressional investigations. So to me it’s very possible, and I take the president at his word, that he did not know about the meeting”.
“He wasn’t aware of it”, Don Jr. said of his father during an appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee late past year.
Mr. Giuliani’s comments come just days after Mr. Cohen’s lawyer Lanny Davis provided a tape to CNN where Donald Trump is overheard discussing with Mr. Cohen how they would purchase the rights to a Playboy model’s story about an alleged affair with him.
The Trump Tower meeting was arranged by a music promoter, Rob Goldstone, who reached out to Trump Jr saying he had “official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russian Federation and would be very useful to your father”. One of those with the president of the United States. “Mueller has always been said to be interested in the circumstances of that statement, which denied that the meeting had dealt with campaign issues at all”.
Following a week of bombshell revelations, Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s current legal counsel and the former New York City mayor, told the network that his team has told Cohen and his lawyers they “should respect the client and attorney privilege in different ways”, Giuliani said. Trump wrote. “How stupid and unfair to our Country”.
The specter of the potentially damaging information, which would run counter to months of denials and point toward a willingness to collude with a foreign power by Trump himself, again raised the possibility of what Cohen could deliver to prosecutors if he decides to cooperate. Giuliani has claimed Trump told Cohen, “Don’t pay with cash”, suggesting he wanted the payment to be properly documented.
Giuliani also claimed the conversations exonerate Trump from any wrongdoing. CNN first reported the news Thursday night.
On Sunday, Giuliani told CBS that talks since have been interrupted by other issues, including the Cohen matter and Mueller’s prosecution of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.
While Rob [Goldstone] said he would send me the names of the attendees for the June 9th meeting, he never did.
Trump also on Friday dismissed as “ridiculous” a report that Muller’s team is looking at Trump’s tweets as they investigate possible collusion and obstruction of justice.
