Giuliani ‘supportive’ of Trump not pursuing Clinton investigations
“The law’s totally on my side”.
During the 2012 presidential election, Trump called the Electoral College “a disaster for a democracy” and said it had made “a laughingstock out of our nation”.
It was reminiscent of Richard Nixon’s comment to journalist David Frost that by definition, a president’s actions don’t violate the law.
Hamilton’s argument was that the College would prevent against selecting a president with poor judgment or under the influence of a foreign government, said Ryan Clayton, a volunteer with the project and veteran liberal activist.
It was yet more whiplash from Trump. But he also said he was “phasing that out now” and passing business operations on to his grown children. “I think the Clintons have suffered enormously by this defeat that brought down the Democratic Party”. Trump initially agreed to a combo off- and on-the-record session with The Times, meeting in private with the publisher and in public with reporters and editors. The worldwide pact to battle global warming took effect on November 4.
Tuesday, he wasn’t as specific. I have an open mind to it. A USA withdrawal from the agreement would be a blow to worldwide efforts to curb rising global temperatures and address the ecological, humanitarian and economic impact of climate change. He had previously rejected scientists’ conclusion that humans have played a role in the earth’s warming.
The Times said that before the give-and-take on issues, the president-elect complained about some of the newspaper’s coverage of him, saying “I think I’ve been treated very rough”. “I don’t want to energise the group, and I disavow the group”.
If he wants to move forward, to work toward establishing his administration, focusing on Clinton’s emails and the family charity – no matter how much doing so might have pleased the anti-Clinton set – would have been exactly the wrong way to go.
Trump condemned an alt-right conference in Washington over the weekend where some members performed a Hitler salute and yelled: “Hail Trump!” after a speech about white nationalism.
Trump has no specific stance on anything because he’s not smart enough to take one.
“. The Times is, it’s a great, great American jewel”. If I thought he was a racist, or alt-right …
“Trump didn’t say [NBC reporter] Katy Tur by name, but talked about an NBC female correspondent who got it wrong, then he referred to a frightful network correspondent who cried when Hillary lost who hosted a debate – which was Martha Raddatz, who was also in the room”.
How is Trump going to do that? He has made his position clear. I would have been in California, I would have been in Texas, Florida and NY, and we wouldn’t have gone anywhere else.
As for further investigations of Clinton, Trump seemed to waver in a post-election interview on CBS’ “60 Minutes”. But not on screen – the meeting wasn’t live-streamed or televised. The President-elect does not care who knows how unforgiving or vain or distracted he is.
In an act of arrogance this week, Trump summoned leading anchors and executives of television news to a meeting at Trump Tower. That fight over electoral college votes dragged on until the night before the inauguration.
