Giuliani: Trump didn’t commit a crime of any kind

That was after a CNN report that Cohen was willing to tell special counsel Robert Mueller that Trump knew in advance of a 2016 meeting at Trump Tower in which the Republican candidate’s eldest son sought damaging information from a Russian lawyer about Hillary Clinton.

Donald Trump has denied fresh claims he had advance knowledge of a meeting between his son and a Russian lawyer ahead of the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Cohen now claims that Trump Jr. informed his father of the meeting before it took place and received his approval.

“He can not be believed”, Rudy Giuliani, a lawyer for Trump, told Reuters Thursday, referring to Cohen.

I suspect that a long line of presidents would dispute Trump’s “tougher on Russia” claim, particularly Ronald Reagan. He even retained Bill and Crooked Hillary’s lawyer.

“The bespectacled Mr. Weisselberg has been little known outside of Mr. Trump’s core inner circle at the Trump Organization, the Journal reports”. Earlier this week, Cohen’s legal team released a secretly recorded conversation made in September 2016 in which the attorney and Trump discuss a payment to former Playboy model Karen McDougal.

“We have complained” to Cohen’s lawyers that “he’s violated the attorney-client privilege, publicly and privately”, Giuliani told the network.

Mr Cohen did not immediately return a request for comment on Mr Trump’s tweet.

“I expected something like this from Cohen”, Giuliani said on CNN on Thursday.

Giuliani said he’s aware of the subject matter of 13 Cohen tapes that have been seized by the government, but that only one affects the president.

The Trump Tower meeting was arranged by a music promoter, Rob Goldstone, who reached out to Trump Jr saying he had “official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russian Federation and would be very useful to your father”.

Giuliani previously told Business Insider he “would be surprised” if Trump knew about the meeting at the time that it happened.

According to his friends, Cohen has been agonizing over hearing nothing from the President as he’s being investigated and has been sending up flares this past month, signaling that his loyalty would be to his “family and country”, not to Trump.

Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee, though, said Trump Jr. was in contact with a “blocked” number while he was in the midst of arranging the Trump Tower meeting with a Russian contact, Emin Agalarov.

“We wouldn’t consider it in our best interest to share confidential information with them and they would feel the same way”.

With the American economy having surged to its fastest growth rate since 2014, Mr Trump was keen to draw attention to it with the 2018 mid-term elections on the horizon.

“It seems to me the worst that you could say, assuming that Cohen is telling the truth now, is that Donald Trump lied back in 2017”, Mr. Wallace said Friday.
