Glenn Robinson III scores 20 points in Pacers’ win
MYLES Turner and Glenn Robinson III showed the way as the Indiana Pacers routed the reeling Los Angeles Clippers, 91-70, on Sunday in Indianapolis (Monday, Manila time). By halftime, the Pacers had attempted 20 more field goals than the Clippers.
“He’s just been solid”, McMillan said of the third-year wing. The Clippers can exploit the absence of Paul George and they are a good team on the road. The Paces head into the matchup against the Clippers having lost two of their last three games.
“I wanted to get the guys together and kind of wanted to get them to just start seeing the game differently”, he said. It was an encouraging sign McMillan’s decision to dial back the offensive tempo in order to give the defense more opportunity to coalesce is bearing fruit.
The Pacers will have plenty of tough tests as they begin a five-game road trip featuring games against the Trail Blazers, Warriors, Mavericks and Clippers. Times that the team has a lot of fixable issues to review on defense. “That motivates us even more”.
Paul George will miss the Indiana Pacers’ next three games with a sore left ankle. Aaron Brooks had six points but had four rebounds and even a block on the night. “And he’s bringing energy”.
Rodney Stuckey came off the bench to score 18 points for Indiana. He said there is no reason why the team should not communicate on the offensive end. To make it seem not as bad, all six of those teams have a shot at making the playoffs this year.
Jefferson’s “nephew” also had a strong night. He is averaging 20.8 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
“My legs are getting under me, I’m getting into a great rhythm”, said Jefferson, who admitted a few weeks ago that he was not yet in the shape he needed to be in to play this uptempo style. “In my case, he’s like my nephew, I’m the uncle”.
Want your voice heard? He’s going to hear my voice more than he hears coach’s voice, probably. But I’m just very excited to be back, ” Ferrell said.
“We talked about not taking steps back”, McMillan said.
The only tarnish on the Pacers’ performance was the questionable effort put forth by the visitors. They got 16 points from Blake Griffin, 13 from Chris Paul and 12 from Jamal Crawford.
J.J. Redick and Blake Griffith each had 24 points for the Clippers.
The Nets played without Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (sprained right ankle), Jeremy Lin (hamstring) and Caris LeVert (foot). Jeff Teague and Monta Ellis were held scoreless in the first half.
For Indiana Pacers forward Paul George, Turkey Day was as good a day as any to give his teammates a wake-up call.
George, for the fifth time this season, watched the Pacers from the bench during their empathic 118-97 win over the Nets.
The Pacers opened the third with a 7-2 spurt – capped by a Turner jumper – for a 57-42 lead, marking their biggest advantage of the game.
