Glidden stands out as No. 24 Oklahoma State’s top receiver
24 Oklahoma State Cowboys 3-0 (0-0) vs. Texas Longhorns 1-2 (0-0) WHEN: Saturday September 26, 2015 at 2:30 Central WHERE: Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, TX.
It was the first time since 2012 an Oklahoma State quarterback hit the 400-yard mark and just the 13th time in school history. The Cowboys even got two takeaways off special teams, with the punt and kickoff units each producing fumbles. They would play the first game at the Alamodome in San Antonio (a 56-35 victory in 2013) and the next two in Stillwater.
This season, before Saturday, the Cowboys had forced but one turnover.
Senior safety Mauricio Sanchez said “a lot” of issues were discussed in the 20-minute conversation at the 50-yard line of the team’s practice field.
“You’ve just got to keep getting a little better every day and winning moments”. Hopefully, those things are contagious. “He’s a go-to, but all of our receivers are go-to, they make tremendous plays in big-time situations”. It’s a matter of how well we get ourselves back in the game mentally.
Still stung by a 55-point loss Saturday at Oklahoma State, UTSA players aired out some concerns during a 20-minute meeting held after practice Sunday afternoon.
After a few weeks of not seeing Oklahoma State play at the highest level, fans might be back to drinking the Kool-Aid. Early in the second half it was 38 to Oklahoma State as Grogan managed another touchdown when Rudolph managed a 46 yard pass to David Glidden making it 38-7. Rudolph threw for 283 yards going 17-23 and picking up two more touchdowns to add to his season turnover. “We are a lot better football team, certainly, than we played today”. We have to be. “We’re in the third week and just moving forward”. “That’s about all I can say”. Carson had 104 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns in the 69-14 win over UTSA. Wideouts David Glidden and Jhajuan Seales accounted for the scoring receptions.
NOTES: The schools completed a three-game arrangement. Linebacker Drew Douglas has 12 tackles, 2.5 for losses, including 1 sack. Coker was the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State from 1983-1989. The Cowboys are coached by former Oklahoma State quarterback Mike Gundy, who was coached by Coker when he was offensive coordinator at OSU from 1983-89.
Neither Perez-Isidoro nor Baker, both listed as starters coming into fall camp practices, have played a game yet this season.
If the Roadrunners are going to pull off the upset, they’ll have to be more disciplined as they have been penalized 22 times in two games. That ball was recovered by Deric Robertson who ran over the line for the final of 69-14 taking more advantage of sloppy work from UTSA.
