Goalkeeper concedes 43 goals then gets arrested
A German goalkeeper has been arrested after his team lost 43-0 to local rivals PSV Oberhausen.
After conceding a goal almost every two minutes, goalkeeper Marco Kwiotek may have wanted to completely forget about the performance.
The police gave no reason for his arrest.
PSV Oberhausen, facing an overmatched SV Volderort team that could only field eight players at one point, led 35-0 at half.
Marco Kwiotek – a goalie for the SV Vonderort soccer team in Germany – had the dubious honor of giving up 43 goals in a single game last week.
According to Goal.com, Plateau United Feeders hammered Akurba FC 79-0 while Police Machine FC demolished Babayaro FC 67-0 in a play-off fixtures in which the winners would qualify for the Nigeria Nationwide League Division 3. Armed officers came out from the cars, made their way to Kwiotek and then escorted him off the field.
The German club’s trainer Yvonne Liesenfeld said: “I don’t know what is going on with the police”.
Club managing director Christian Schröer told Express that he hopes the goalkeeper will be available for selection in Vonderort’s next game.
Obviously, the allegations look to be around match-fixing, but police refused to comment on why he was arrested.
Letting 43 goals fly past you is bad enough, right?
“We are in the dark”, he said. It has been reportedly stated that his mobile phone can not be reached at the moment.
