Godzilla, Kong in one film in 2020

When Legendary announced plans to produce films centered on Godzilla and Kong, fans all over the world began speculating about these two characters’ meeting in the same film. The first installment of this new franchise will be “Kong: Skull Island”, which is scheduled to release on March 10, 2017, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Warner Bros. and Legendary released Godzilla in May 2014 with an agreement to release Godzilla 2 on June 8, 2018.

It’s previously been reported that Kong: Skull Island would be set in Detroit in the 1970s, but Hiddleston wouldn’t be drawn on whether that was actually the case. Both films feature the human Monarch organization. It has been teased for quite a few time now that Legendary may bring a few of Toho’s other legendary monsters into the franchise.

The Legendary CEO, Thoman Tull and Warner Bros CEO, Kevin Tsujihara made the announcement and combined the epic monsters in a trilogy. “I’m excited to reveal that film was only the beginning of an epic new entertainment universe. As a lifelong fan of these characters [King Kong and Godzilla], I’ve always wanted to see the ultimate showdown”.

Tsujihara stated in an interview that both the companies are enjoying the creative and commercial success of “Godzilla” and hope to reprise it again. “It’s great to be able to revisit these characters and help create a franchise with so many creative possibilities for filmmakers”. The Jordan Vogt-Roberts film has just started production in Hawaii and the local Reel Tour Hawaii have posted photos of what they purport to be images from the King Kong set.

A trip back to the mysterious and unsafe home of the king of the apes, the new film will reportedly follows a team of explorers (led by a character played by Tom Hiddleston), who venture deep inside the treacherous, primordial island to find the leader’s brother and a mythical serum, confronting extraordinary creatures along the way.

Warner Bros retained the rights for Godzilla and will also work as distribution partner for Kong as per the alliance.

Godzilla Vs. Kong will be released in 2020.
