Golden Globe nominees revealed
The Golden Globe winners will be announced 10th January 2016. Full list of nominees can be found here.
The nominees for best motion picture drama are Spotlight, The Revenant, Carol, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Room. “I’m thrilled for our incredible cast and crew”. Making “The Revenant” was a true honor for me. “I want them all to sit on my face”.
Apart from “Carol”, the other best motion picture drama nominees are “Mad Max: Fury Road”, “The Revenant,” harrowing kidnap tale “Room” and “Spotlight”, which recounts the Boston Globe’s investigation into sex abuse in the Catholic Church. Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press for your support. So, in the first of what will likely be a number of prediction pieces, your friendly neighborhood film staff at effect of Sound has put together our predictions for who we think will take home a Globe this year, and who we think is the most deserving among those nominated. “I am genuinely ecstatic”.
Finally “Penny Dreadful” – a show that manages to stay under the radar despite getting great reviews- got itself a nomination for “Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Series- Drama” for actress Eva Green. Second spot in the list is shared by “The Revenant“, “The Big Short” and “Steve Jobs” with four nominations each. “We are really excited to be involved and included”.
Lawrence earned a nomination for her latest film, “Joy”, directed by David O. Russell, while Schumer received hers for her summer blockbuster movie, “Trainwreck”. If I may call upon a description I once wrote and still stand by, “The Golden Globes are a fundamentally goofy proposition, given out by a tiny club of journalists at a ceremony that’s famous for the fact that everyone gets hammered”. “Anomalisa” is a project so close to my heart and Charlie and Duke’s film is mind-blowing. “She’s obviously one of the most talented people in the world and she deserves it so much and she’s worked so hard and I couldn’t be happier for her. Nobody deserves it more than her”. She was nominated for both best actress in a drama for her performance in The Danish Girl and best supporting actress as the human-seeming robot in Ex Machina. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article. – “Blunt Talk” star Patrick Stewart on how he and his wife celebrated his best actor in a TV comedy nomination while vacationing in Jamaica. Lead actress Catriona Balfe, who plays spirited protagonist Claire, landed a first-time nomination, as did Tobias Menzies, who plays the show’s villain (as well as Claire’s husband Frank, but never mind all that). We’d also like to request four extra bottles of wine at our table that night.
In-demand Fassbender is in the running for Best Performance by an actor in a Motion Picture for his performance in “Steve Jobs”.
– “I will be celebrating the best way I know how, which is to get a nice hug from my family and go off and shoot a movie”. Vikander is Eddie Redmayne’s equal in “The Danish Girl”, and “Carol” is told through the eyes of Mara’s character. A day after receiving supporting actress nominations from the Screen Actors Guild Awards, for example, Rooney Mara (“Carol”) and Alicia Vikander (“The Danish Girl”) will be considered for a best actress Globes nod.
