Golden Globes’ Twitter Confuses Gina Rodriguez With America Ferrera
Wow, now this is not good.
This year, the 31-year-old actress is the only Latina up for a 2016 Golden Globe.
The Golden Globes Twitter account made the mistake of confusing America Ferrera with Gina Rodriguez during the nominations announcement ceremony on Thursday (December 10).
The HFPA quickly fixed their faux pas and deleted its previous tweet. “Our sincerest apologies to America and Gina”. Ferrera joined actors Angela Bassett, Chloe Grace Moretz and Dennis Quaid at the Beverly Hilton Hotel Thursday to announce the nominees for the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards. “@HereIsGina @ChloeGMoretz @ImAngelaBasset #DenisQuaid #Golden Globes”. That’s when Twitter absolutely exploded with angry tweets from individuals shocked over the mixup! She didn’t address the mixup either because she was too busy celebrating her nomination and she tweeted: “Speechless gratitude”. Ironically enough, Rodriguez’s split from her boyfriend of one year Henri Esteve came just seven months after she won best actress in a comedy series. We are so excited for Gina and love her on Jane The Virgin. Get it together, Golden Globes.
