GOLDEN NUGGETS: Southern Miss vs. Marshall
Coming into the season, many pointed to today’s game at Marshall as one the Golden Eagles would, in all likelihood, lose.
Marshall pulled away from Southern Miss in the third quarter, and one of the Thundering Herd’s touchdowns came on this tremendous play by Jarquez Samuel.
Southern Miss was backed up near their own end zone when Eagles quarterback Nick Mullens dropped back to throw. There were just too many things we did poorly against a good football team.
So the Golden Eagles (3-2) have a chance at knocking off a team that has been on top of the C-USA hill and they can do it on national television (CBS Sports Network). Just looking at it, I think we led in nearly every statistical category, but this game proves that does not matter one bit. But to beat them would be good. Todd Monken’s squad committed five versus the Thundering Herd.
Southern Miss freshman kicker Parker Schaunfield kicked a 33-yard field goal in the second quarter Friday at Marshall. Three plays later, Litton hit Ryan Yurachek for a 3-yard touchdown to make it 17-10 with 25 seconds left in the half.
