Golden State Warriors beat Chicago bulls, continue their winning spree
Denver ranks next-to-last in the National Basketball Association in opponent 3-point field goal percentage, surrendering 38.8 percent of their shots per game.
The Clippers have been in the game for both losses against Golden State this year, so it’s not like they are getting blown out.
Golden State moved within one of sole possession of the all-time record for victories to open a season for a reigning champion, using two late 3-pointers by small forward Harrison Barnes to secure a hard-fought, 106-94 triumph over the Chicago Bulls for its 14th consecutive win.
However, that has been surpassed by the defending champion Warriors, who have started the season a outstanding 13-0, with superstar guard and 2014-15 MVP Stephen Curry leading the way with a ridiculous 34.2 PPG average on a 34.8 PER to go along with 5.2 three-pointers made a game on 45 percent shooting. But Iguodala, Shaun Livingston and Festus Ezeli came off the bench to provide a few much-needed energy, and Golden State got back to within 29-28 by quarter’s end.
“It’d be a huge accomplishment because obviously doing something that hasn’t been done in the history of the league is special”, guard Stephen Curry said.
The Warriors are on a tear to start the season.
“That’s why you grow up playing this game is because of the type of joy from what just happened out there”, Warriors interim head coach Luke Walton said. “I don’t know what to say other than every single night, when it’s a close game and it’s time to win, no matter how we’ve played, our guys step up”.
Draymond Green has a team-high 92 assists on the season. That was more stunning and swift, erasing a 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter alone. Emmanuel Mudiay was the team’s high scorer, finishing with 26 points.
In New Orleans, Anthony Davis had 20 points and 18 rebounds in his return from a sore shoulder, and the Pelicans beat San Antonio for their second victory of the season. Wrong. The lineup is very effective and has contributed to the Warriors 14 game winning streak.
LaMarcus Aldridge left briefly in the first quarter after twisting his left ankle, but returned and finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Unlike Thursday, the Warriors responded quickly, starting with a three-pointer by Thompson. The Bulls led by as many as 10 points in the first quarter.
Hornets 113, 76ers 88: Al Jefferson had his third double-double of the season with 26 points and 10 rebounds as the Charlotte Hornets rolled to an easy 113-88 victory over the winless Philadelphia 76ers. The Blazers enter the game with a seven-game losing streak.
Toronto’s Kyle Lowry had 25 points to lead the Raptors past the Los Angeles Lakers 102-91, ending a run of three losses.
The Chicago Bulls gave Jimmy Butler a five-year, $95 million deal this offseason to be a centerpiece of the future for the franchise.
Gordon Hayward scored 22 points for the Jazz. Jamal Crawford added 15 points. Marco Belinelli led the Kings with 23 points.
Andre Drummond had 21 points and 11 rebounds while Marcus Morris contribued 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Pistons.
