Golden State Warriors Keep on Winning
Even though it was technically possible, the Los Angeles Lakers never stood much of a chance against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night, getting rolled to the tune of a 111-77 scoreline. “My shooting will be better, we’ll be better”.
“I could have scored 80 tonight, it would not have made a damn difference”. “We’ve got Magic [Johnson] and James [Worthy], and Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar] as a post-up player to demand a double-team”.
The game seemed like already a victory for the Warriors in the first quarter after building a huge lead, which at some point reached 19 points. Nobody really talked about the 15-0 record until last week when we got up to around 11 or 12 wins. “We’ve got to figure out how to play systematically in a position that’s going to keep us in ballgames”. Scott is trying to navigate an untenable situation to the best of his ability, but the Lakers have a long way to go before becoming relevant in the West.
The Lakers dropped their last game to the Trail-Blazers in Los Angeles on Sunday by a score of 107-93. While the Lakers were back at practice at their El Segundo facility Wednesday, Bryant was told to stay home for rest.
“He doesn’t want to have his career end on such a sour note”, the insider tells the entertainment website about Kobe Bryant retirement, adding the five-time National Basketball Association champion is not thrilled “with how this season is going so far”.
It’s hard to imagine Lakers higher-ups are thrilled with how things have played out thus far, but perhaps they have a different view of this season.
“I’ve talked about the 33 more than anyone else on the team because I know about the history and how hard it is”.
However, he said that it does not depend on them to make the decision whether Bryant will play or retire.
“They neglected Kobe Bryant, left him to hang out and dry”, Smith said of the Lakers. “You try not to get too high on wins and too low on losses, and just correct the things you need to correct”.
“I have not considered that yet”, Scott said.
Unless you revel in their misery (which you very well might), the Lakers have been totally grim and unapproachable this season, with perhaps one exception: off-court Kobe.
