Golden State Warriors Lead NBA With Record 19-0 Start
More seriously, some people are wondering if they might be able to remain undefeated all the way to a big showdown on Christmas Day against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team that the Warriors defeated in the NBA Finals to win the title last season.
It’s been a little bit odd for the last two years, as the Jazz’s once-great home court advantage has shriveled somewhat. Rodney Hood scored 14 seconds later to bring the Jazz within one. The Jazz are attempting to build on their records of 8-7 Straight Up (SU) and 9-5-1 Against The Spread (ATS). The NBA record for consecutive wins is 33, set by the 1971-72 L.A. Lakers. He is playing with a measure of precision that is unbelievable for fans to behold, establishing himself as the best pure shooter in the league and averaging just shy of 32 points per game. Subsequently the Warriors will head to Charlotte for a game on Wednesday (7 pm ET).
Golden State is about to undergo perhaps its toughest test yet, though it doesn’t come against any particular opponent.
Discipline against transition: The Warriors feast on opponents in transition, their lethal group of shooters and passers spreading out and often bombing teams to death in short spans that can wrap games up in a hurry. The Warriors reclaimed a 101-99 lead on a Green field goal off a steal. They have the best assist-to-turnover ratio in the league at 1.88.
This is how a team succeeds on the road with one of its starters (Harrison Barnes) out injured, while another (Andrew Bogut) fouls out in 22 minutes and yet a third key contributor (Andre Iguodala) is scoreless in 27 minutes. But before he could fully secure it, Green dislodged the rock, tapping it to himself between Gobert and Gordon Hayward. The screen left Utah center and shot-blocker extraordinaire Rudy Gobert switched onto the reigning MVP. Even when they do everything perfectly, the grace of Curry and the hustle of Green exceed perfection.
Utah is 4-2 SU in its last 6 games. “Even if I was scoring the same amount, I feel like the game is slowing down even more than it did past year”. Golden State remained flawless by beating Utah on Monday and extending their historic start this season.
The loss drops the Jazz to 8-8 and seventh place in the conference, but few fans and viewers would come away from this contest with a diminished opinion of their quality.
Saturday Dec. 12 at Milwaukee (7-11): Golden State closes out the road trip in Milwaukee on the second leg of their second back-to-back. With the Warriors down by three with 6:36 to go, Curry checked in, snagged a defensive rebound and promptly drained a 3-pointer on one of his signature abbreviated fast breaks.
Utah allows 94.8 points at home this season. Against the Jazz in an early-season game, the world champions should keep their regular rotation.
From this vantage point, there were many more praise-worthy points than true letdowns from the Jazz’s end. “When he makes high-percentage decisions, he can shoot it, he can pass it, he can handle, he can finish”. The Jazz is coached by Quin Snyder, a graduate of Mercer Island High School. Which is good news for Golden State, and bad news for the haters.
On the season, the Utah Jazz average 95.5 points, 43.1 rebounds and 17.9 assists per game. Ranked sixth, the Golden State Warriors rebound 46.1 times per game. They out-rebounded the Jazz by 10, including 14 offensive boards, several of which were killers.
