Golden State WarriorsObama hosts 2015 National Basketball Association winners at White House
President Obama welcomed the Golden State Warriors to the White House on Thursday in honor of their 2015 National Basketball Association championship, ribbing Stephen Curry for “clowning” during a game and even offering his opinion on Klay Thompson’s jump shot.
Per nba.com/stats, the Thunder’s most effective small lineup – Serge Ibaka, Kevin Durant, Anthony Morrow, Dion Waiters and Russell Westbrook – is scoring 134.6 points per 100 possessions, second in the NBA to the Warriors’ Green-Barnes-Iguodala-Thompson-Curry quintet (146.9).
Curry made 11 of 16 shots from beyond the arc, just one three-pointer shy of matching the National Basketball Association record of 12 shared by Kobe Bryant and Donyell Marshall.
“Just for what President Obama means for our country, the story of his journey and for him to be up on the podium and acknowledge our accomplishments, talk a little bit about us and our personalities, and stuff that he knows about, it’s just surreal, something I’m going to remember for a long time”, he said.
“It will be fun, I’m looking forward to it”, he told reporters after the game.
After the Warriors opened the game with a torrent of threes and got out to a 17 point lead, Wall could have panicked and tried to shoot more threes to get the team back into the game.
Anthony Davis scored a 28-point, 10-rebound double-double in a losing cause.
Point guard John Wall scored 41 points and dished out 10 assists to lead the way for the Wizards (21-26), while reserve shooting guard Bradley Beal added 18 and Brazilian center Nene Hilario, who also came off the bench, finished with 12.
The reigning National Basketball Association (NBA) champions Golden State Warriors met with the United States of America President Barack Obama at the White House to celebrate the franchise’s 2015 NBA title.
‘So we’re pretty lucky today that we’ve got one of those players in the house – Steve Kerr, ‘ Obama said, referring to the Warriors coach, who also played on those Bulls teams.
Reflecting on their astonishing streak, Obama said: ‘Let’s face it, the Warriors are in the middle of a very special two-year run.
“You always get inspired by some great play out there”, Curry said. “And Steph is getting a lot of notoriety, obviously, and drawing fans and media everywhere we go”. C Festus Ezeli missed his fourth straight game with a sore left knee.
Warriors: Host Oklahoma City on Saturday.
Curry set a career high for 3-pointers in a quarter.
