Golfer Jason Day’s Wife, Ellie, Gives Update After LeBron James Collision
The contest included a frightening moment with 3:07 to play, when James, chasing a loose ball, crashed into the wife of Australian golfer Jason Day as she sat courtside with her husband.
The NBA is concerned about courtside fan safety at games after LeBron James was involved in a courtside crash during a game that injured PGA golf champion Jason Day’s wife Ellie.
“She is resting comfortably and appreciates all of those who have reached out and are concerned about her”, the Days said in a statement.
“For me, obviously, her health is very important and hopefully she is doing well”, James said. “Just trying to keep the possession going, and I hate that that was the end result of it”.
Ellie Day was released from MetroHealth Medical Center early Friday morning, according to hospital spokeswoman Tina Shaerban Arundel.
Ellie Day, who gave birth to her second child last month, was hospitalized from the impact of the scary encounter with the 6-foot-8, 250-pound James. However, this is the second time Jason’s been spotted on the sidelines of sporting event.
Officials say that it is a common thing for the players to leap into the stands during an National Basketball Association game to go after a ball, but prior to this incident there hadn’t been any serious injuries. Richard Jefferson added 13 points off the bench for Cleveland, now 31-2 in regular season games at home since January 15.
However, James has no concerns about fans sitting courtside.
As Day was being treated by medical personnel inside the arena, James came over to check on her, grabbing her hand.
But after overnight testing she was released from hospital and is on the mend. “It doesn’t happen much and, you know, our fans are way our game is so great”. “It’s unfortunate it happened tonight but that doesn’t happen much”, he said.
Jason Day, who claimed the PGA Championship in August, has been married to Ellie since 2009. Sitting courtside, it’s all part of the game.
“I think she was just a little tired”.
