Golfer Robert Allenby arrested outside casino
Robert Allenby plays from the 17th tee during the John Deere Classic.
Multiple media outlets reported that the golfer was arrested outside a casino early on Saturday morning, a few hours after missing the cut at the John Deere Classic PGA Tour event that he was playing.
Allenby, 45, was arrested at 2.30am outside Jumer’s Casino in Rock Island, Illinois, and charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing.
Allenby missed the cut by three strokes after making an even-par 142.
In the Rock Island County Sheriff mugshot released to AAP Allenby is sporting a light beard and wearing a collared shirt.
When contacted by USA Today Sports, Allenby told the newspaper: “I don’t know anything that’s going on, so you can say whatever you want”. Rock Island Police said Allenby spent “probably less than an hour” in jail before being released after posting bond.
When asked about the charges, Allenby said: “I have no idea, mate”.
This news comes about a year and a half after Allenby had another odd off-the-course incident, that time in Hawaii.
Foy said that after Allenby was processed at the local jail, police took him back to the casino. In January a year ago, he was found with severe bruising in Hawaii after missing out on the Sony Open tournament.
