BBC News is reporting that Downton Abbey is in a Christmas Day battle with the Eastenders.
In an interview with Deadline, he said: “We easily could have gone for a seventh season”.
This video shows the team filming their final ever scenes at Highclere Castle, which acted as the magnificent aristocratic home Downton Abbey throughout the six series.

Downton Abbey won the ratings war on Christmas Day as 6.6million viewers tuned in to watch the final episode of the period drama.
“We’re really looking forward to seeing the Christmas Day episode – you can be certain we’ll all be “Beamish spotting”. Not everyone gets the happy endings, but ultimately we are a positive show.
Downton Abbey debuted on ITV in 2010 and became a global phenomenon, collecting numerous awards along the way.

At 8.45pm, EastEnders will go head-to-head with Downton Abbey and at 9.45pm Mrs Brown’s Boys will return with a Christmas special. “But still, Michelle and I get giddy imagining Beyoncé and Jay Z settling down on the sofa to watch “Downton”.
