Goodell encourages NFL teams to fairly pay cheerleaders
National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell wants a new National Football League rule that ejects players after two personal fouls.
He noted that there would need to be careful consideration of which personal fouls would be counted toward an ejection; an incidental facemask penalty, for example, should not, in Mara’s view. “I don’t foresee a change in that policy clearly in the short term, but we’ll continue to be in touch with our medical personnel”, Goodell said. “They’ll obviously have to throw the flag, but when they do, we’ll look to see if we can reach an agreement on the conditions of which they’d be ejected”. “The league supports both these teams”, he said.
But the commish was at his most Goodell-ian when asked specifically about the NFL’s random PSI testing in response to the New England Patriots’ Deflategate scandal that was conducted throughout the season.
– He said he “was disappointed in what I saw” in last Sunday’s Pro Bowl and said changes could be on the way. We think they are important to the league going forward and we disagree with the District judge’s decision. “I may have to think about this differently than in the past”.
For a league and a sport to go out of their way to condemn legalizing sports betting in states, who can truly use the money, it doesn’t bother them or matter if they partner with DraftKings or FanDuel, as long as there’s millions in sponsor money – or the owners sanction and own part of the fantasy operation. The Raiders on game day, if you’re around our stadium… if you see our parking lot before the game, that’s probably the largest non-denominational gathering on a Sunday morning that you’ll ever find and I’m not going to give that up. “There’s risks to sitting on the couch”, explained Goodell.
“He’s a great player and a great young man and whatever it is I support it. Whatever it is, if I can do something to help him, even if this is the next phase of his life, I’ll do that too”.
“There will be a new helmet coming out this season”, Goodell said. “But I didn’t see that this week”. We’ve never had closer games than we’ve had in our history. So I think this is something that at some point it may come up. The comebacks were off the charts with excitement this year.
“I’m not going to speculate what we’re going to do depending on the outcome”, Goodell said. I think certainly the statistics this year are a little bit alarming. “There’s enough good publicity and entertainment value in the product to more than offset all the bad publicity they get from the other places”. Spanos has a tentative deal with Rams owner Stan Kroenke on sharing the facility, but announced he wanted to make a last bid to stay in San Diego. We are considering playing more games in the U.K. It’s a balancing act with our schedule.
But if that sounded like a tone-deaf, back-of-the-hand answer to a question, consider how Goodell ended the session responding to a question asking if he felt comfortable about encouraging parents to have their kids play football after seven high school players nationally who died of injuries suffered in games or practices this season.
