Google: Android update coming, code name Marshmallow
Initially, upon flashing the third developer preview of Android 6.0, we thought our beloved System UI Tuner had gone the way of the dodo. Alongside the new platform also features fingerprint support and Doze, the power saving mode. The Android emulator system and developer preview system images have been updated for selective Nexus devices.
There will now be eight permission categories, with an opt-in system used for application permissions.
The consumer version will be available to the public sometime this fall, according to a blog post from Jamal Eason, Google’s product manager of Android.
Google first announced plans to release Marshmallow at its annual I/O conference last May in San Francisco. You would definitely find something of your liking in this latest set of Android 6.0 wallpapers.
To enable System UI Tuner in Android 6.0 Marshmallow preview 3, pull down your notification shade and long-press on the Settings gear icon for up to 5 seconds. It gives users more granular control over what information apps can access through a new permissions model .
Along with the unveiling, Google announced the official release of the Android 6.0 SDK, an updated version of the Android Support Library, and the final M preview. Problem is, only those with Nexus devices could have the boot animation.
Also, just like the previous developer update, supported Nexus devices will receive an OTA (over the air) update over the next few days.
