Google brings Android Nanodegree program to India with Udacity and Tata Trusts

Global search engine Google is offering a nine-month course to Indian techies to develop global and local applications on its Android platform in partnership with the Silicon Valley-based start-up Udacity.

The newly annnounced program is an education credential created to help developers learn new skills and thus advance their careers. He said that with the launch of this programme, Google is looking to bridge the gap for the developer community by giving an easy access to learn and build high-quality apps.

Udacity is setting up shop in India, its first physical offices outside of the United States. Adding more onto this, it is worth noting that the Nanodegree program will consist of courses developed and taught by instructors from Google.

Online computer programming educator Udacity announced on Monday it would expand on the ground in India, the country where the service is growing the fastest.

Technology executive and Product Chief at Google Sundar Pichai on Google I/O 2015 said that Google has invested over $4 million in developing this curriculum. Udacity also launched an initiative where it will refund half of the tuition costs for those who finish their course within 12 months. This may or may not be attainable, but considering India’s exciting and rapid move into more technical industries, it seems like we might have a new app powerhouse on our hands in the next three-to-five years time.

“We are excited to be launching Udacity in India today and honoured to be partnering with Google and Tata Trusts as we bring our Nanodegrees to millions of people in India”.

The country boasts the world’s second largest developer population with 3 million software developers.

The Udacity Android Nanodegree program is open for enrollment today.

The companies will also offer 1,000 scholarships and all graduates will be invited to a job fair next year hosted by Google in India. If you’re willing to look over this aspect, this Android developer nanodegree course could be a life changing experience.
