Google Brings Asus Chromebit With Chrome OS to India at Rs 7999
Priced at Rs 7,999 Asus Chromebit is a PC-on-stick running on Chrome operating system and much akin to the Windows version of PC-on-stick, Google hopes to compensate for its lack of interest in Chromebook with this pocket device.
The device has a Rockchip RK3288 chipset with a quad-core CPU and 2GB of RAM, and comes equipped with 16GB flash storage. The device itself doesn’t require any power, but works through an HDMI connection and Bluetooth support is available for connecting peripherals like a wireless keyboard and mouse. By simply plugging this device into any display, you can turn it into a computer.
It also features Wi-Fi, bluetooth4.0, a Smart Ready Controller, ARM Mali 760 quad-core GPU, and claim to boost fast and easy Playback 1080p videos on a large screen.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai has recently announced during the Google For India event that Asus Chromebit will be available for purchase in India in January next year. It’s the ideal upgrade for an existing desktop and will be really useful for schools and businesses. The only drawback is that there is no memory card slot if you want to expand storage.
A small computer, which can connect to the HDMI port of the TV set, the Asus Chromebit allows the idiot box to perform anything the Chrome browser is competent of, with additional offline characteristics like functioning on documents, playacting media or offline games.
The new Chrome product will prove most practicable for old personal computers and monitoring devices in commuting their dumbness into stylishness.
