Google brings in-app purchases to Android Pay and teases Australia launch
But what about Google’s Android Pay? Samsung’s vast customer base and its purchase of a patented technology that allows its new phones to send credit card information to check-out terminals that aren’t equipped with NFC technology, made it a contender against Apple Pay and Android Pay.
But wait there’s more, one of the features of Android pay includes in-app purchases, Google has announced partnerships with Australian app developers to bring Android Pay integration into their apps, the apps include Day, EatNow, GoCatch, Kogan.com, Menulog, OzSale, Rewardle, and The Iconic. Well, with a few Android apps, you actually can earn from your mobile.
Google’s Android Pay mobile payment system lets you use your smartphone like a credit card. It has partnered with American Express in Australia, Canada, Singapore and Spain to hold a slight market edge over Android Pay.
Until now, the ability to make purchases in apps is what set Apple Pay apart from its various counterparts.
Apple Pay is also adding support for BJ’s Wholesale Club cards, which joins Kohl’s as the first two retailers to have their store credit cards work with Apple’s service. Interested developers can add Android Pay to their apps by visiting the Android Pay API site. So long as the apps themselves support Android Pay as a payment option, users will be able to select it, and with their card data already inside of Android Pay, they can avoid having to enter their card information in multiple places. Android Pay will be available for both physical locations as well as for in-app payments when it hits Australia.
