Google Brings Tweets To Desktop Search Results
Google’s results will now – or will soon, for you – show Twitter‘s Tweets along with standard search results, especially when search terms have to do with keywords that are blowing up on Twitter at the time the search is made.
Today’s change follows a similar move earlier this year, when Google began integrating tweets into mobile results, and comes roughly six months after Twitter announced a deal with the tech giant.
Google also gave the example of searching for a famous birthday.
Today, Google has broken away from its shackles on mobile, and is bringing the very same integration to the desktop.
The new Twitter cards aren’t terribly prominent against the rest of search results, not does it do more than provide a chronological list of posts, but we imagine it will come in handy when you simply want to look for a recent tweet without having to search through Twitter itself.
Twitter’s place in Google’s desktop search is now official.
The new desktop integration means that it is now possible to search for hashtags, trending topics, and Twitter accounts with a regular Google search.
Update, 8/21/2015: We’ve extended this to desktop now too, and in English everywhere.
If you happen to take the new feature out for a spin, then be sure to let us know about it in the comments section below. Google suggests that they’re bringing this functionality to more languages soon. Sounds like a pairing nearly as good as wine and cheese, if you ask us.
