Google started rolling out this new built-in Cast option with Chrome 51 last month. Websites that have been integrated with Google Cast will show the Cast icon when you visit them.
Google might have revealed the reason for the small but important change in the Google Chrome Blog post announcing it.
Cast has come along way in the past two years, and is now available on third-party hardware include speakers and TV, in addition to Google’s own Chromecast and Chromecast Audio dongles. With this feature, you can, instead, cast your tab, or your desktop, to the Hangouts session.
The Google Chrome team recognized that the extension for Chrome was a big hit that more than 38 million people have actually used the technology to watch and listen to over 50 million hours of content through their Cast-enabled devices.
Casting has become popular among users. Click it, choose the television set or speakers you want to cast to, and Chrome will do the rest.
On a related note, the company also mentions that everyone can now cast to Google Hangouts and the Cast for Education app. You can share it in the comment section below.
