Google celebrates India’s 69th I-Day with Gandhi’s Dandi March doodle
“As the world’s largest democracies, the US and India stand side by side in defending and promoting the freedoms and values we hold”, he said yesterday. In India many religions, castes were there, though we all are living as one in India.
There was no Independence Day doodle on Google’s India home page in 2004.
Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif greets people of India on the occasion of Independence Day. The day is the result of fighting against British rule in India. India gained its liberty and became a free country at midnight between August 14 and August 15, 1947. It has been 69th Independence day so far.
The doodle features “Father of the Nation” Mahatma Gandhi leading the Dandi March along with a group of followers.
The Google 2006 Indian Independence Day doodle was also with a flag theme, in which the second “O” of the Google logo was symbolised by the Ashoka Chakra. Irrespective of the disputes, and disorders all Indians will celebrate this day. Gandhi and his contingent covered about 390km in 24 days.
“Today we commemorate the legacy of India’s freedom fighters, including Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Patel, whose message of non-violence established a united, inclusive republic and served to inspire leaders from around the globe”, the message read.
