Google’s newly appointed CEO Sundar Pichai is shaking up leadership roles under his reign.
Pichai was himself promoted to CEO of Google in August as part of the corporate restructuring that formed new parent company Alphabet.
Lockheimer, has been supervising the development of the Chrome OS and Android’s branching out into cars and wearable devices since a year ago, and he is now formally the Senior Vice President taking good care of Android, Chrome and Chromecast.
The Engadget reports that a number of Googlers are celebrating their promotions at the moment, one of the biggest winners being Hiroshi Lockheimer, who used to be the Android division’s VP. The display ad and video businesses of Google will be a huge force in Google, despite the fact that the company reorganization means search and related products will be the main focus of the company.
Lockheimer joined Google in 2006 when he was hired by Andy Rubin, the first head of Android, to work on the company then unreleased mobile operating system. Now he will continue to take on more responsibilities for Android, which he has been doing anyways since the reorganization.
Another high-ranking appointment announced by Pichai is the promotion of Philip Schindler as the SVP for Google’s Global Sales and Operations. Mohan was reportedly given 0M in stock grants by Google in 2011 to keep him from defecting to Twitter, and was more recently courted by Dropbox.
