Google Has Some New Tools for Teachers
Google has over 200 expeditions available right out of the gate, all of which have dedicated pieces of information that you can listen to and watch while exploring the area. With the app in place on the main terminal, students will have the ability to cast their own screen to the main terminal and as a result, the connected display for the rest of the classroom to see. Google Cast app will give the teacher the authority to permit the access to any of his or hers students to the projector, with no additional hardware. To get started, teachers must download the app onto a set of devices, and ensure everyone is on the same network.
As for educators who wish to take advantage of this, Google has pointed out that Best Buy will be selling Expedition kits.
The company is pushing education and the importance of learning to the rest of the world, so they chose to unlock their Expeditions app that makes it possible to take these field trips.
Once they turn it into a destination, teachers will have the authority to accept or reject the Cast request of students. If students want to share their screens with the class, they have to physically connect their devices to the classroom projector. It is available in beta as a Chrome app that works in Chrome OS, Mac, and Windows for free starting today. Quizzes will be automatically graded, and will include multiple choice questions and checkboxes. Teachers can provide feedback in the forms and send supplemental links of the review material to the student. Teachers will also get student progress reports that can indicate which lectures need more explanation. The free app works with the search giant’s VR platform Cardboard or tablets in two-dimensional mode. The company teamed up with EdTechTeacher on Soundtrap, WeVideo and ExplainEverything, programs that Google said help students nurture their skills and creativity. The iOS version promises to come soon, but it hasn’t been finalized yet. They can be purchased as a bundle at special price and are available as an annual subscription per licence from Chromebook resellers in the US.
