Google I/O 2016 dates announced: May 18-20, in Mountain View
At last year’s I/O, Google showed off enhancements to its digital assistant service, called Now on Tap, and launched its own mobile payments system, called Android Pay. In fact, the decision to move the conference from it’s previous home in San Francisco may be telling, as the Shoreline Amphitheater would certainly be a better place to demonstrate a self-driving auto.
Outdoorsy Google I/O venue could lend itself to showing off everything from Project Loon Internet balloons to Project Wing delivery drones.
In a Google+ post, Pichai also confirmed that I/O would not take place in the San Francisco’s Moscone Center, as it did previously, but will instead be held at the larger Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View.
More details on the event are due out soon, Pichai said. To celebrate our 10th anniversary of developer gatherings, we’ll be hosting I/O in our backyard at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA from May 18th – 20th. If you’re a developer, then this is your chance to get up-close and personal with some of the best and brightest minds in tech.
Google has begun live-streaming the event, though, so not all is lost if you can’t attend in person but want to stay up on the action. We’ll update as more details are available.
