Google introduces two new smartphones, the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X
The 6P, meanwhile, is the first Nexus device built by Chinese manufacturer Huawei, and houses a 2K resolution 5.7-inch display protected by Gorilla Glass. Although with the Nexus devices scheduled to debut in markets soon, Google hasn’t revealed the dates for the bigger device.
They’re also home to rear-mounted fingerprint scanners and 12.3-megapixel cameras. Specs also show that the Nexus 5X can shoot slow-motion video at 120 frames per second while the Nexus 6P can do 240 frames per second. Google said the smartphone will come with a Smart Burst feature that captures shots at 30fps, and can be used to create GIF images. Battery capacity is at 2,700mAh with RAM capacity of 2GB. It is made from aeronautical-grade aluminium and offers a USB Type-C port for fast charging, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core 64 bit processor, 3 GB of RAM, and 32, 64 or 128 GB of internal storage.
Both devices are equipped with a fingerprint recognition sensor for identification to enable mobile payments through Android Pay.
According to the information available on Google Play Store, Nexus 5X will be priced at Rs 31,900 (for 16GB variant) and Rs 35,900 (32GB), while Nexus 6P will be available at Rs 39,999 (32GB) and Rs 42,999 (64GB) in India. In US, users will also be able to use android pay through nexus Imprint for making easy purchases.
On the software side, Google said it has reduced the number of preloaded apps, and has made uninstalling apps easier as well.
Google announced two new Nexus phones, as expected – the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P – that will run the new, more capable Android 6.0 operating system, also known as Marshmallow.
Available in white, silver, and black with an $89 two-year warranty, the phone comes both unlocked and compatible with Google’s Project Fi network. The company published a list on Twitter of HTC devices that will be treated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
At the same time, Google announced that it would be releasing over-the-air updates to Android 6.0 Marshmallow for its older Nexus 5 and higher devices starting on the 5th of October.
