Google launches Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P smartphones
We are eager to get it on our smartphones as soon as it gets available on other devices than Nexus.
The devices include features such as a fingerprint scanner, the new Nexus camera and Google’s new personal assistant Now on Tap.
Andrei Popescu, an engineering director for Google’s Android team, said: “The Nexus devices are our idea of embodiment of the flawless Android device – a platform for application developers to show off the new features of Marshmallow and show what Android can do”.
Because the Nexus phones are Google’s, they’re the best showcase for Marshmallow, the latest Android operating system, which hasn’t yet been released. Along with its diamond-cut edges and sculpted back, the Nexus 6P looks respectable.
Nexus 6P is a Huawei made 5.7-inch QHD display smartphone, which is coming to compete against the iPhone 6s Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
Burke also pointed out that designers need to make sure they aren’t filtered on Google Play, and testing and updating schedules should take into account the impending nature of the roll-out.
Fingerprint Sensor: The technology is technically called “Nexus Imprint” and Google says it can recognize a fingerprint in fewer than 600 milliseconds, which is really quick.
The LG Nexus 5X’ larger sibling will be available unlocked exclusively at the Google Store with a pricing scheme that starts at $500 for the 32GB variant. The 5.7in 2560×1440 AMOLED screen is made of Gorilla Glass 4 and is powered by a 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2. Other additional features to be included are a new app drawer, auto backup and restore for apps, new memory manager, and support for USB Type-C ports. Unlike the Surface though, the Pixel C’s keyboard attaches magnetically and relies on Bluetooth, rather than a docking mechanism.
The Google launch also saw the début of the Pixel C tablet, a business-oriented Android slate that costs $499 Dollars for the base 32 GB version – no Canadian pricing has been announced thus far.
Google Plan Music will let up to six people use the service for $14.99.
