Google Maps Brings Its “Add A Pit Stop” Feature To iOS
Waze has officially announced a new version of their Android app that completely refreshes the user interface and adds numerous new features. The detours functionality will let you easily add more stops to your route without messing up your current navigation, and 3D Touch makes it easier to navigate to your important places using a tentpole feature of Apple’s new phones.
Human beings love planning. Prior to the update, Google Maps users would have to manually discover and find a potential pit stop, navigate to the location, and when ready to leave, re-start their original route navigation. From there, tap the magnifying glass on the top left and search for the next destination you would like to stop at. This will pull up a list of suggested areas, such as grocery stores, coffee shops, or gas stations. The feature is rolling out across all 100+ countries where Google offers its Maps services.
Luckily, Google Maps for iOS now allows users to add multiple destinations. Nevertheless, you can now finally input multiple stops into Google Maps for iOS.
For safety’s sake, you can access the feature by way of voice commands by tapping on the microphone button instead of typing.
Google didn’t stop with multiple destinations. You can also search for more places if the one you want isn’t in one of those groups. The search results will show your pit stop with its ratings and the estimated detour time that it will add to your trip, so you can select an appropriate pit stop and plan accordingly.
