Google Nexus 6P users complain of problem with on-board microphone
The Huawei-made Nexus 6P was unveiled in September and users have already got their hands on their units. Unfortunately, many owners complain of microphone issues that don’t allow them to use the speakerphone when talking on the Nexus 6P. This is highly disappointing as Nexus flagships usually do not have such problems, moreover it it is the most reliable smartphones line-up introduced by Google.
Google’s product forums as well as a few researchers have discovered that the microphone in the Huawei-Google Nexus 6P gives out low-quality, muffled, in-call sound, a Forbes report notes. Other users however claim that it is probably the obstructing of the rear microphone that is causing the issue in the first place. However, there is no confusion about the complaints that the user’s voice at the other end of call is received with poor quality.
The issue might be the number of microphones on the smartphone. There have been theories on XDA forums that on-board software is the problem and could not cope with the phone’s hardware. He says, “I turned off noise cancelling via build prop and it fixed it for me. Google really needs to enable a setting for this or use better software”, confirms another Nexus 6P owner. However, rooting the phone would void warranty, thus is not endorsed. It is hoped that this is not a hardware issue as that would lead Huawei and Google to recall units, thus creating quite a lot of trouble for both companies as well as the customers. As mentioned above, Google has replied on its forums saying that it is looking into the issues. Developers on XDA suggest that the problem is merely a bug and Google will soon send out an update to fix it.
