Google, NORAD Santa Tracker 2015: Where is Santa Claus is right now?
Norad’s Stacey Knott, who has worked with the Norad Santa Tracker for the past three years has said, “We get a lot of calls from Europe, Australia and New Zealand”.
New York Air National Guardsmen and Royal Canadian Air Force personnel assigned to the Eastern Air Defense Sector (EADS) will play a key role Christmas Eve as the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) tracks Santa Claus and his reindeer.
– Hundreds of volunteers are tracking Santa’s Christmas Eve flight around the world and relaying his status to kids excited for a visit from St. Nick.
“I like it cause he always delivers presents to all good girls and boys”, says six and a half year old Jayden Petersen.
NORAD has helped generations of children track the progress of Santa from the North Pole to North America, being careful to be in bed before he reaches their rooftop. Santa Claus is coming to town and it’s easier than ever to find him.
The command centre’s Defense Support Program satellites use an infrared sensor to detect heat signatures from Rudolph’s nose to provide more accurate tracking of the sleigh.
This 60-year tradition actually started as a mistake, when a Sears ad printed the wrong phone number for Santa in the Gazette.
With less than 24 hours to go before Christmas, NORAD’s Santa Tracker shows viewers exactly where Santa is at any given moment and how many gifts have been delivered.
Dozens of volunteers man the phones for kids who call in and want to remind Santa of a favored gift or, as is the case many times, they ask Santa to give something special to a brother, or sister, or mom or dad.
Volunteers staff telephones and computers to answer calls and emails from children from around the world.
