Google patents Glass-like head-mounted display tech that take pictures on
According to 9to5Google’s Stephen Hall, the next iteration of Google Glass, referred to as the “Enterprise Edition” inside of the company, will feature several improvements over its predecessor, including an Intel Atom processor that improves performance and battery life, and a larger, more generous display.
Even though Google Glass hasn’t exactly caught on in the United States, Google is investing in a new function for the gadget that allows people to take a quick picture by using their hands.
The camera on a head-mounted wearable sense where the user’s fingers are positioned and take a photograph when you make one of those finger frames. In addition, the device can recognise when its wearer wants to take different image shapes (e.g., orientation of the photo). And on using two hands to frame a rectangular portrait the camera could take a portrait photo. Shortly after it was reported that developers were starting to lose interest in the augmented reality eyewear, Google announced it was shutting down its Google Glass Explorer Program, but said it remained committed to developing the Glass as a consumer product. As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt said, “It is a big and very fundamental platform for Google”. Though there has been no official announcement from the company, the latest FCC filing of GG1 has given rise to speculations that Google could indeed be back with the next generation of Glass.
The Google Glass comes with various voice controls but this new patent will be based on gesture recognition.
