Google Photos gets new feature which resurfaces old photos/videos of users
Since the new feature for Google Photos is optional and not on by default, users have to opt-in to the feature for seeing their old photos and videos which have been saved on the app’s unlimited memory. Now it’s learning a new trick, though this one seems to be cribbed from another popular app.
These can then be shared through email or social media, although the photos are kept private until you choose to share. Once you activate the feature, you’ll see cards in the Assistant view that will showcase a collage of photos, people and places from that date.
Moving forward, Google will help you “rediscover” old memories.
The new update, which is an opt-in feature, is rolling out now adds another layer of whimsy to the service which already serves up delightful auto-awesome collages, animated GIFs and more. Google Photos understands if some memories are better left forgotten. For now it’s just a nice look at the past. I was not able to find the feature in the most recent Google Play version or in APKMirror, but I’ll update this post when I do find it. The cards will also tell the users where they were and who they were with on that day.
