Google Pixel 2 confirmed for later this year and it’s staying “premium”
The former President and COO of Motorola Mobility who returned to Google as new hardware SVP previous year has been working with the Pixel team and looks like his group will roll out the next-gen Pixel phone.
Android Pit was the first to offer the report, quoting the Pixel chief, Rick Osterloh, as saying that Google would continue to keep up its yearly rhythm in the phone industry. The only thing worth pointing out is that it falls perfectly with Osterloh’s statement that the Pixel will stay in the premium realm of smartphone.
The Google Pixel is expected to release its sequel this year sometime, even the company may or may not be announcing it.
The Pixel runs on a Snapdragon 821 2.15GHz processor.
Google may be staying mum but the Nexus 6P, despite its popularity, failed in capturing more buyers compared to the HTC One M9 or Sony Xperia Z5.
Speaking to AndroidPIT at MWC 2017, Mr. Osterloh mentions that there are plans in place for creating a Pixel successor. It also presents a chance for Google to improve on the hardware and software flaws that the device suffered from despite its initial success. So if someone wants greater battery life they should go for the Google Pixel XL, otherwise, the Google Pixel is one of the best option. Tech Crunch notes that the smartphone designed and marketed by Google is a significant reset for the firm’s mobile hardware strategy. That is why you can count on Google to follow it. There is no news on a release date for Thailand at this stage nor is there a definitive list of “eligible” devices.
Despite the latest update, Google is set to feature renewed smartphone competition in the coming weeks, with the Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8 both set to launch in the not too distant future.
Being the first smartphones from the company, last year’s Pixel devices gave a good start to the portfolio.
While the search engine giant made a prominent move in introducing the Google Assistant to other, earlier unsupported, Android smartphones, the inclusion of iPhone in the list will be welcomed.
