On Wednesday, the Google Cloud Platform said it had acquired Kaggle, what it calls the world’s biggest community for data scientists and machine learning geeks. Google unveiled a new cloud service Thursday aimed at easing that pain.
Added to that is Google’s machine learning capability, which is widely acknowledged as the best in the industry.
Under Greene’s leadership, Google is going all-in with its cloud service.
General pricing for Compute Engine will also drop, by 5 percent in the USA, 4.9 percent in Europe, and 8 percent in Tokyo, and the free tier trial has been extended from 60 days to one year, Google said. Last year, banking, retail, healthcare and discrete manufacturing were the largest spenders in AI.
The new API was built to help understand the overall content in videos, and extract actionable insight from that data. By joining forces with Kaggle, Google said it will be able to speed up efforts to advance and democratize the adoption of artificial intelligence.
The company further says that it wants to democratize AI and with this in mind, it has new products, as well as new programs for research and education to ensure that machine learning is accessible to all developers, data scientists, and businesses. A search for “tiger” for example would find all shots containing tigers across a video collection in Google Cloud Storage.
What Google has done is create a tool that enables users to search through a video catalog just like they would with text documents.
United States tech giant Google has confirmed the acquisition of data science community Kaggle for an undisclosed sum.
Despite the announcements, analysts said Google remains a distant third in the market for cloud computing, the increasingly popular practice of using remote internet servers to store, manage and process data.
At its Cloud Next event that is now taking place in San Fransisco, Google has been announcing all sorts of things including new host locations and so on.
