Google Releases a 360-degree Video of White House Christmas Decorations
Well, it’s obviously not that simple, but Google’s doing the best they can to let you experience Christmas at the White House.
The tour winds through a number of lavish rooms and corridors, including the East Colonnade, the East Garden Room and the White House Library, as well as the Vermeil Room and the China Room.
This year you can tour the White House in all its Christmas splendor by donning Google Cardboard, or a similar virtual reality headset, and simply watching a 5 minute video tour.
iPhone and iPad owners can maneuver their devices to look around. If you have neither a Google Cardboard viewer nor an Android phone you can just drag the video around with your mouse to get an idea in your computer.
Earlier this month Google showed off a video of the New England Patriots practicing at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. But for the vast majority of people who’ve never set foot into the White House, this is a pretty big deal. That’s great, considering the great potential offered by virtual reality, that of transporting users into exotic locations and other dimensions. However, it takes a lot of work to make VR video look good, and this particular one isn’t there yet.
The VR video you see above will give you a look at various 360-degree photos of the presidential mansion.
