Google rolling out latest Android system to Nexus phones
Tech giant Google’s recent announcement related to the release Android 7.0 “Nougat” has made the latest version of the company’s Android mobile operating system truly official. Nexus users can check if the update is available via the “About Phone” option in their settings menu.
Back in March, Google announced that this time, it is taking a different approach for the newest version of Android. It released a developer preview under the new beta testing program where users can enroll just by registering on a website.
Android Nougat is also smartening up on its battery usage to keep devices running longer, and it will include new security measures, including file-based encryption and background updates, that will aim to keep devices protected and up to date.
Google also highlighted the new tools for developers and users found in the final build of Android Nougat.
If you have a Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 device, you’ll be getting Android 7.0 very soon.
An update to Android 7.0 is now rolling out to Nexus devices. With the new OS version hitting the existing Nexus devices within days, the upcoming Nexus models seems to have lost their key selling point. The blog post by the VP of Product Management at Android & Google Play, Sameer Samat says, “Today, we’ll begin rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat to Nexus devices”. Usually it’s within months of the initial Nexus release, though some manufacturers have improved their update process. So Watch this space for more information on Android Nougat.
Google have also added the ability to run two apps side-by-size in resizable windows, there’s new “direct reply” functionality and Quick Switch, which allows users to jump between their most recently used apps. Huawei and LG have also both started limited consumer trials of Android 7.0 on the Huawei P9 and LG G5 respectively. “The New LG V20: The first new smartphone that comes with Android Nougat, right out of the box”.
