Google’s Nearby gives you a heads up to location-relevant apps
Today, Google has announced that a consumer implementation of a Nearby “receiver” is now shipping in Google Play Services for all Android 4.4 and above devices. There is an application for an audio tour of the Broad, a contemporary art museum in Los Angeles. Because of this, they have developed Nearby, a feature that will use Bluetooth and Global Positioning System to deliver you apps based on your location. Or it may let you know about the United Airlines app while you’re waiting to board your plane.

Google said Nearby is an extension of its Physical Web project, which also uses Eddystone beacons to help users find relevant URLs based on their physical location. The feature also asks permissions from the users, only after which one will be able to experience Nearby.
The way that Nearby works is through the help of Beacons, Bluetooth and Location services. The alternative, especially in the case where the user is not interested in the suggested site or app, he can swipe the notification to clear the screen.
