Google’s Waze will now help you find the best parking spot
Waze, Google’s real-time traffic app that compiles live updates from drivers on the roadways, partnered with another traffic-based company, INRIX, to make the challenge of public parking a little bit easier, according to INRIX. The integration with INRIX and its aggregated parking data will allow more accuracy and a better user experience, allowing users to find available spaces quickly and easily navigate to them. Certainly, more so if the destination is that of a popular, densely populated area. This component also maps out directions to help individuals reach the selected place.
Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has teamed up with INRIX Holdings Limited in order to enable the Waze application to specify parking for the convenience of the applications users.
The way the feature works is interactive which means that, as an individual approaches a destination, the app will advise whether or not the person wants to be directed to an available parking location. A year ago, the company expanded its offering with the acquisition of ParkMe, an app that assists users in finding and paying for parking. “As the co-pilot for driver navigation, Waze has begun to rollout the first of its parking suite features to solve this issue for drivers”. It stresses and frustrates the driver. It has been estimated, however, through data recorded by IRNIX Holdings Limited, that the average driver can waste up to 55 hours searching for parking alone in a year. The figure represents almost $600,000 million in lost time and fuel. It offers the information to businesses, municipalities and news outlets. INRIX is the preferred provider of parking information and services to leading automakers, including Audi, BMW, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Toyota and Volkswagen.
