Google ships self made Android powered Pixel C tablet
Dave Burke, vice president of engineering at Google, holds the new Google Nexus 6P during an event on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, in San Francisco.
The Nexus 6P is featured with a price tag of Rs 39,999 for the 32GB variant and Rs 42,999 for the 64GB model.
The 16GB Nexus 5X will cost £339 in the United Kingdom when it goes on sale on 16 October.
As part of the Google Nexus launch, the search engine giant has also announced its plans to start sending over-the-air updates for Android 6.0 for Android smartphones.
In spite of its “Pixel” moniker, the Pixel C is not a Chromebook; it is Android-based tablet which runs Android tablet apps.
Manufacturers of other Android devices have yet to confirm their launch schedules for Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates.
Nexus 6P includes 3GB of RAM, dual front-facing stereo speakers, a Micro USB Type-C Port, 12.3MP main camera, an 8MP front camera and 3,450 mAH battery.
Without naming the specific phones, Precise Biometrics also confirmed on Wednesday that its biometric software had been integrated into “two smartphones from a leading American technology company”. The device comes with 5.2 inches of screen and 6 cores of 64-bit Qualcomm processor with a clock speed of 1.8 GHz.
As pointed out by The Verge, the most significant improvement of the device from its predecessor is its fingerprint sensor located at the back and is called the “Nexus Imprint“. Doze automatically puts the Android device to sleep when it is not being used.
The fingerprint scanner also means that the two devices are automatically ready for Android Pay, the mobile payment gateway that Google will be using to replace Google Wallet.
Second wholly Google-made machine after the Chromebook Pixel.
The two new Nexus smartphones are available to pre-order from today.
According to sources, the new devices will be available in the Indian market, both online and offline, by the end of next month.
